Sukha Sail 2
A 40-meter Phinisi built for purposeful exploration, Sukha Sail 2 blends traditional Indonesian craftsmanship with modern sustainability and comfort. Designed to glide through Komodo National Park with quiet confidence, it offers space, safety, and seamless access to some of Indonesia’s most remote marine wonders.
Vessel Design & Sustainability
At 40 meters long with an 8-meter beam and 2.7-meter draft, Sukha Sail 2 is a substantial presence on the water, engineered for stability and smooth sailing across open channels and sheltered bays alike. Her twin Weichai WD10 engines, each delivering 240 horsepower, push the vessel to a maximum speed of 10 knots, with a standard cruising speed of 7 knots—ideal for steady progress between islands without rushing the journey.
What sets this Phinisi apart is her commitment to sustainable operation. A 6,000 WP solar panel system feeds into a 20 kVa lithium battery bank, reducing reliance on generators during daylight and nighttime hours. This green energy setup powers lighting, navigation, and guest amenities without sacrificing reliability. With a 10-ton freshwater capacity supported by a watermaker producing 300 liters per minute, and a 10-ton fuel tank, Sukha Sail 2 is equipped for extended itineraries far from shore.
Safety is embedded in every system. The boat carries full compliance gear: lifejackets, liferafts, EPIRB, and emergency signaling devices for all 30 guests. Navigation is supported by RADAR, GPS, SONAR, AIS, and updated marine charts, ensuring precise routing even in challenging conditions. Two Yamaha-powered tender boats provide swift, reliable transfers to dive sites, beaches, and snorkeling zones across Komodo National Park.
Cabins & Onboard Comfort
Sukha Sail 2 features 11 cabins designed to balance comfort, airflow, and privacy across multiple guest categories. The Cendrawasih Master Cabins (1–3) offer generous space and en suite bathrooms, while the Merak Suites (1 & 2) provide elevated comfort with private balconies and bathtubs—rare features on Indonesian Phinisi vessels.
The Elang Deluxe Cabins (1 & 2) and Merpati Deluxe Cabins (1 & 2) are well-ventilated, twin-berth accommodations ideal for couples or solo travelers seeking a premium experience. For group travelers or budget-conscious adventurers, the Maleo Sharing Cabins (1 & 2) offer shared facilities with reliable ventilation and storage. All cabins are thoughtfully positioned to minimize engine noise and maximize natural airflow, with marine-grade finishes that withstand tropical humidity.
Indoors, the dining area doubles as a social hub, with a full-service bar and seating for communal meals. Entertainment includes a TV and karaoke system, perfect for relaxed evenings under the stars. The expansive sun deck delivers 360-degree views of Komodo’s dramatic coastlines—prime for sunset watching, stargazing, or quiet reflection. Occasional movie nights create a cozy atmosphere for families and mixed groups.
Best for
Sukha Sail 2 is a strong fit for travelers who value sustainability without compromising on access or comfort. It suits small groups, families, and mixed-age parties looking for a balanced pace—equal parts adventure and downtime. With snorkeling gear, paddleboards, banana boat rides, and two tenders for quick access, it’s well-equipped for active exploration.
The availability of private balcony cabins adds a touch of luxury for couples or guests seeking a more secluded retreat. Because of its size and crew capacity, the boat handles open-share trips efficiently while still offering private charter options. If you’re planning a 3D2N, 4D3N, or longer Komodo itinerary that includes Padar Island, Pink Beach, Manta Point, and Komodo Dragon trekking, Sukha Sail 2 delivers reliable logistics and authentic sailing character.
It’s also a practical choice for travelers who appreciate solar-powered systems and reduced generator use, especially during overnight stays in quiet bays. With safe, structured itineraries and experienced guides, it works well for first-time visitors to Eastern Indonesia who want expert navigation through dynamic marine environments.
