A Rich History of Conservation
Komodo National Park was established in 1980 to protect the Komodo dragon and its habitat. Since then, conservation efforts have been ongoing to preserve this ancient species and its ecosystem. The park's history dates back to the 19th century, with the first scientific study of Komodo dragons conducted in 1911 by JKH Van Steyn. Today, the park is a Man and Biosphere Reserve and a World Heritage Site, recognized for its unique biodiversity and natural beauty.
