Aliikai Voyage

Aliikai Voyage is a 41-meter wooden phinisi rebuilt in Bali between 2019 and 2020 after more than a decade of expedition sailing around the Lesser Sunda islands. Now positioned in Raja Ampat, she carries up to 14 guests across seven cabins on three decks, and her interior leans heavily on space, privacy, and unhurried comfort. For travelers who want a VVIP charter with room to spread out and real Indonesian shipbuilding pedigree, she is one of the strongest options in the archipelago.

Vessel Origin and Refit

Aliikai's keel was laid in the small village of Bulukumba, South Sulawesi in 2005, and it took three years and a crew of carpenters and finishers to complete the vessel. For roughly 14 years she operated as an expedition boat for small groups and families across the Lesser Sunda islands, logging serious sea miles before her transformation began in November 2019 and continued through 2020 in Bali.

The refit reshaped her into a dedicated charter phinisi with a clear priority on livability. Three decks now host seven generous cabins, an intimate lounge and dining room, a spacious sky deck, and an expansive alfresco area on the main deck. The layout is deliberately social without sacrificing personal retreats, so 14 guests never feel stacked on top of each other even on longer Raja Ampat itineraries.

Interior Lounge, Dining, and Sky Deck

The indoor lounge and dining area is an air-conditioned, multi-purpose space where guests can relax and take refuge from the mid-day sun. Wrap-around windows give the interior an airy, expansive feel while keeping it visually connected to the rugged Raja Ampat landscape outside. Fold-away glass doors open onto the covered outdoor lounge and dining area, where dinners are served under the stars and daybeds and sofas invite late-night conversation.

One level up, the upperdeck lounge doubles as a mindful yoga studio by day and a relaxing, breeze-cooled retreat in the afternoon. In the evening the crew converts it into a cinema under the stars, with guests choosing from a selection of movies while popcorn is passed around. Between these zones and the open sky deck, there are enough dedicated spots for 14 guests to split into smaller groups without feeling crowded.

Cabin Layout for 14 Guests

Aliikai's seven cabins are configured to suit couples, families, and mixed groups within the same charter. The layout includes two Owner Cabins, an Owner View Window Cabin, an Ocean View Porthole Cabin, and a Family Cabin, along with additional crew-serviced rooms, distributed across the three decks so each party can choose a level of privacy that matches their plans.

The Owner-class cabins sit higher in the vessel with larger windows and more natural light, while the Ocean View Porthole Cabin brings guests closer to the waterline with a more classic liveaboard feel. The Family Cabin is set up for parents travelling with children, making Aliikai a credible option for multigenerational groups. Cabins were redesigned during the refit with an emphasis on space and storage, so extended itineraries remain comfortable.
