Kimochi Voyage II Phinisi Charter Komodo

Kimochi Voyage II is a traditional Bugis-style phinisi schooner built from premium Ulin and Jati hardwood, running VIP-tier charters across Komodo National Park. The vessel measures 20 meters in length with a 4-meter beam and carries up to 16 guests on open-deck day trips. Twin W Marine engines (6D15 and 8D16) push speeds of 6 to 10 knots, backed by Garmin GPS, VHF radio, and AIS radar for safe passage. Open trip rates start at IDR 1,500,000 per person, with full boat private charter from IDR 24,500,000 per day. The boat departs every Friday from Marina Harbour (KP3) in Labuan Bajo.

Vessel Build & Technical Specs

Kimochi Voyage II is a Bugis Phinisi schooner, built from Ulin (ironwood) and Jati (teak), which are the two hardwoods most prized for Indonesian boat construction. The hull runs 20 meters long with a 4-meter beam and gross tonnage of 24, sitting in the mid-size range for day-trip phinisi. The fuel tank capacity is 1 ton, with 3 tons of water storage, which is enough for full-day operations with 16 guests without refuelling. Twin W Marine engines (6D15 and 8D16) deliver 6 to 10 knots cruising, which matches the pace needed to cover the standard Komodo itinerary between Padar, Komodo Island, and Pink Beach in a single day.

On-Board Facilities & Safety Gear

Kimochi Voyage II is set up as an open-deck day boat rather than a liveaboard, which changes how the space gets used. The main area is a chill lounge for guests to hang out between stops, a bar for cold drinks and snacks, and an open sundeck for lying back between snorkel sessions. A toilet is available on board. Safety equipment is comprehensive for a boat this size: 2 life boats, 20 life jackets, 2 ring buoys, 4 fire extinguishers, plus a compass and Garmin GPS at the helm. The combination of navigation gear and redundant safety equipment is what lets the boat keep running safely across the outer reaches of the park.

1-Day Open Trip Itinerary

The Kimochi Voyage II open trip departs every Friday from Marina Harbour (KP3) at 06:00 WITA and returns by 19:00 the same evening. The route covers four core stops: Padar Island for the sunrise hike and the famous three-bay viewpoint, Komodo Island for dragon trekking with a park ranger, Pink Beach for snorkeling over the coral, and Kalong Island at sunset to watch the flying foxes lift off in tens of thousands. The 16-guest capacity means you share the boat with other travellers, which keeps the per-person cost at IDR 1,500,000 much lower than a private charter. Destinations may shift with weather for safety.
