Elbark Cruises

Elbark Cruises is a modern-built boutique phinisi that works equally well as a shared 3D2N Komodo boat and as a full private charter. With 9 cabins spread across three decks and room for 21 guests, she sits firmly in the VIP tier of boats sailing out of Labuan Bajo, balancing Indonesian shipbuilding heritage with the refinements most travelers expect from a luxury sailing trip.

A VIP Phinisi Built for Komodo Waters

Elbark is classified as a VIP boat and currently listed as available for Komodo Island itineraries. The vessel is a modern-built phinisi, meaning traditional Buginese silhouette paired with contemporary finishes, reinforced hull work, and updated safety gear. Three decks give the boat a generous footprint: a main deck holding the salon and several cabins, an upper deck with the master suite, and a sky deck used for sunset drinks and sunbathing.

Because she runs both open trips and private charters, Elbark is one of the more flexible boats in the Boat Komodo Trip fleet. Couples, friends, or solo travelers can slot into a Friday departure from Labuan Bajo, while larger groups can take over the entire boat on a custom schedule. The dual model also means crew routines and service standards are well-practiced: a dedicated chef, 12+ crew members, cruise director, and certified park rangers are part of every voyage.

Cabins, Decks, and Onboard Facilities

The 9 cabins are grouped as follows, each with air conditioning and an en-suite bathroom:

- Misool Master Cabin with a private balcony and jacuzzi - Weh Cabin and Mentawai Cabin - Rote Cabin and Selayar Cabin - Toraja Cabin and Alor Cabin - Banda Neira Cabin and Savu Cabin

The Misool suite sits at the top of the stack, with the jacuzzi and balcony pitched toward the horizon for private sunsets. The remaining cabins are arranged across the lower and main decks, sized for couples or twin-share use. Shared facilities include a cozy indoor salon with dining, an al-fresco dining area, a main-deck sunbathing zone, and a spacious sky deck.

Amenities and toys included in the rate: Wi-Fi, movie and karaoke setup, snorkeling gear, paddleboard, canoe, and life vests. Premium documentation with drone, GoPro, and mirrorless camera (unedited) is part of the package, so guests leave with a full gallery of their voyage without booking a separate photographer.

Open Trip 3D2N: Schedule and Route

The shared 3D2N Open Trip departs every Friday from Labuan Bajo, with pricing starting at IDR 6,000,000 per person depending on cabin category. The itinerary is stacked with the classic Komodo highlights and paced so that each stop gets meaningful time rather than a rushed photo.

Day 1 covers Kelor Island (trekking and photos), Manjarite Island (snorkeling), and Kalong Island, where the boat anchors to watch thousands of flying foxes leave the mangroves at dusk. Day 2 is the longest and most iconic stretch: predawn trekking on Padar Island, breakfast underway, beach time at Long Pink Beach, dragon trekking on Komodo Island with certified rangers, then snorkeling with mantas at Manta Point and a stop at Taka Makassar's tidal sandbar. Day 3 closes with sunrise, breakfast on board, and a final snorkel at Sebayur Island before returning to Labuan Bajo around mid-morning.

Private Charter and 4D3N Option

Private charter guests get the whole Elbark Cruise Phinisi with flexibility on timing, routing, and activity mix. The 4D3N private itinerary extends Day 3 with Rangko Cave, Seraya Island, and either Sabolo Island or Bidadari Island, giving more time in the northern cluster of islets around Labuan Bajo that shared trips usually skip.

All itineraries remain subject to weather, sea state, and park authority decisions; Boat Komodo Trip will adjust routing where needed for guest safety. Inclusions cover accommodation on board, all meals, mineral water, coffee and tea, guide and cruise director, Wi-Fi, snorkeling gear, paddleboard, canoe, life vests, and pickup within the Labuan Bajo mainland area near the harbor. Komodo National Park fees, drone permits (estimated IDR 2,100,000 per unit per day), flights, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, crew tips, and travel insurance are not included. Booking is held with a 50% non-refundable deposit; the balance is due no later than 30 days before departure.
