Typhoon Speedboat Charter in Komodo National Park

The Typhoon is a 9-meter speedboat built for travellers who want to cover Komodo National Park at pace without giving up comfort. Powered by twin 250 HP engines with a top cruising speed of 30 knots, the vessel carries up to six guests and is best suited to day trips departing from Labuan Bajo. Canopy-covered seating, a toilet with shower, USB charging points, and a cooler box stocked with soft drinks keep the cabin practical between stops. Boat Komodo Trip operates Typhoon for both full-day island loops and shorter sunset cruises, with 2026 rates set at IDR 16,000,000 for a fullday trip and IDR 9,000,000 for a sunset trip.

Vessel Specs and Onboard Setup

Typhoon is compact by design. The 9-meter hull sits on twin 250 HP outboards, which is the combination that lets the boat reach 30 knots in calm water between Padar, Komodo Island, and Kanawa. Because the vessel is a speedboat rather than a liveaboard, there are no cabins; the focus is on moving fast between anchorages so guests spend more time in the water and less time in transit. Onboard kit covers the essentials for a day on the water: life jackets sized for adults and children, a first aid kit, fresh towels, a cooler box stocked with soft drinks, a shower and toilet for rinsing off between snorkel stops, and USB chargers at the seats. Seating is shaded under a fixed canopy, which matters in the middle of the day when the park loses its breeze. Guest capacity is capped at six, so the boat works well for a family or a small group of friends who would rather travel privately than share a larger wooden phinisi.

One-Day Komodo Itinerary

The standard Typhoon run is a single full-day loop that leaves Labuan Bajo hotel areas by minivan between 06:00 and 06:30 and returns around 17:30. The boat departs at 07:00 for Padar Island, where guests trek to the viewpoint between 08:00 and 10:00 before pushing on to Pink Beach for an hour of swimming and photos. Komodo Island follows, with a rest and lunch stop from 12:00 to 13:00 on the island itself. The afternoon covers Taka Makassar for snorkelling on the sandbar, Manta Point to look for manta rays, and Kanawa Island for a final swim before the return leg to Labuan Bajo. Timings run on Indonesia Central Time (WITA) and can shift if sea conditions force a change; the guide's call is final on that. For travellers who want a gentler alternative, the sunset option skips the early start and focuses on the late afternoon hours with anchorages chosen on the day by the crew.

Inclusions, Exclusions, and Reservation Process

The Typhoon charter rate covers lunch, snacks, fruit, boat clearances, snorkelling fees, the guide, and round-trip pickup within Labuan Bajo. Alcohol, trekking fees at national park sites, crew gratuities, and paid documentation packages are not included and are settled separately. Guests are asked to bring sunblock, a beach hat, a drybag, swimwear, hiking sandals for Padar and Komodo, a power bank, personal medicine, and a Telkomsel SIM for data coverage. Booking is confirmed with a 50 percent deposit; the remainder is due 14 days before departure, or in full if the booking sits inside that window. Deposits are non-refundable if the guest cancels. Payment is confirmed over WhatsApp at +62 811-3823-875, and Boat Komodo Trip follows up through its Customer Relations team to coordinate pickup, flight timing, and any special requests before the trip date.

Getting to Labuan Bajo

Labuan Bajo (LBJ) is the launch point for every Typhoon charter. Direct flights from Jakarta (CGK) are operated by Garuda Indonesia, Citilink, and Batik Air, with additional one-stop options through Lion Air, Super Air Jet, Nam Air, Pelita Air, and Air Asia. From Bali (DPS), direct flights run on Garuda Indonesia, Air Asia, and Batik Air. Surabaya (SUB) has direct service on Batik Air and Super Air Jet, plus one- and two-transit routes on Lion Air and Wings Air. Direct schedules change through the year, so it is worth confirming availability with the airline before locking in dates. Most guests fly in a day ahead because the Typhoon pickup starts before 07:00; arriving on the day of the trip is possible only if the flight lands before 09:00. Recommended hotels near the harbour include Ayana Komodo, Plataran Komodo Resort, Sudamala Resort Labuan Bajo, La Prima Hotel, Sylvia Resort, Seaesta Hotel, and Bajo Escape.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many guests can Typhoon carry?
Up to six. The boat is a 9-meter speedboat without cabins, so the cap is set by seating and comfort on a day run rather than sleeping berths.
What does a 2026 charter cost?
IDR 16,000,000 for a full-day Komodo loop and IDR 9,000,000 for a sunset trip. Both rates include the boat, crew, lunch, snacks, snorkel fees, and pickup in Labuan Bajo.
Is the itinerary fixed?
No. The published sequence through Padar, Pink Beach, Komodo Island, Taka Makassar, Manta Point, and Kanawa is the default, but the guide may reorder or drop stops if weather or currents make a site unsafe.
What is the payment schedule?
A 50 percent deposit secures the date. The balance is due 14 days before departure, and the full amount is payable upfront if the trip is within 14 days. Deposits are non-refundable in the event of guest cancellation.
Do I need to arrive the day before?
Yes, it is the safer option. Pickup starts around 06:00 in Labuan Bajo hotels, so travellers flying in on the same morning must land no later than 09:00 and accept the risk of flight delays.
