TJI 01

TJI 01 is a performance-built speedboat positioned for fast island-hopping across Raja Ampat's western reefs and karst archipelagos. With twin Yamaha 250HP outboards, onboard air conditioning, and a modern toilet, it carries 15 to 20 passengers between Sorong, the Dampier Strait, and the Piaynemo viewpoint with room to spare for cameras, dry bags, and snorkel gear.

Propulsion, Range, and Handling

The vessel is driven by a pair of Yamaha 250HP outboard engines, a proven combination for the open-water runs between Sorong and Waigeo, and again up to the Wayag archipelago. Twin engines deliver both speed and redundancy: if conditions turn choppy or one unit needs attention, the second continues to push the hull through Raja Ampat's occasional swells. This propulsion setup makes TJI 01 a practical choice for guests who want to reach remote snorkel and viewpoint sites within a single day rather than a multi-night liveaboard.

The boat handles predictably at cruising speed, tracking cleanly through the region's current-prone passages. Crews familiar with the Dampier Strait know how to time crossings around tidal movement, which matters when you want the calmest ride and the clearest visibility at sites like Cape Kri and Mioskon. For travelers staying at Waisai resorts or Koprak, D Coral Paradise, or Meridian hotels in Sorong, TJI 01 provides the mobility that turns a short holiday into a full Raja Ampat experience.

Onboard Comfort and Capacity

TJI 01 seats 1 to 20 passengers, with a practical sweet spot of 15 to 20 for charter parties. Seating is arranged to keep guests shaded during transit, while the onboard air conditioning makes the return leg after a day in the sun noticeably more comfortable. A modern toilet is installed on board, which is a meaningful convenience on longer day routes such as the Piaynemo-Wayag loop where facilities ashore are minimal.

This is a speedboat rather than a liveaboard, so there are no cabins. The 0-cabin configuration means the vessel is optimized entirely for daytime exploration, freeing up deck space for dive kits, snorkel equipment, and group seating. Guests typically overnight at Sorong or Waisai accommodations and rejoin the boat each morning, which keeps pace flexible and lets families or small groups design their own rhythm.

Destinations and Day Trip Itineraries

From its base near Sorong, TJI 01 gives efficient access to Raja Ampat's most photographed destinations: Dafalen in Misool's northern fringe, the shifting Timbul Sand sandbar, Sauwandarek village, Harfat hill, the Wayag lagoons, and the Piaynemo karst viewpoint. The speedboat format lets charter groups combine two or three major sites in a single day, which is rarely possible with slower phinisi or liveaboard vessels.

Standard inclusions cover airport or hotel shuttles to the port, meals and drinks during the trip, a tour guide, destination entrance fees, snorkeling equipment, and lodging for multi-day packages (excluded on single-day trips). Guests are responsible for flight tickets, crew gratuity, and the Raja Ampat PIN fee: IDR 500,000 for Indonesian citizens and IDR 1,000,000 for foreign nationals. Most charters begin after direct flights to Sorong (SOQ) from Bali (DPS), Jakarta (CGK), Surabaya (SUB), or Makassar (UPG) on Garuda Indonesia, Pelita Air, Sriwijaya Air, Lion Air, Batik Air, or Citilink.
