Berdikari 1: A Twin-300HP Speedboat Built for Raja Ampat Day Runs

Berdikari 1 is a charter speedboat operating out of Sorong for Raja Ampat trips, powered by two Suzuki 300HP outboards and kitted out for 15-20 guests. Onboard amenities stay practical with air conditioning and a working toilet, the two items that most shape comfort across a full Piaynemo or Wayag day run. Charter rates start from IDR 4,075,000 per day, and the boat sits in the Speedboat category within the Raja Ampat fleet.

Performance and Onboard Basics

The pair of Suzuki 300HP outboards gives Berdikari 1 enough thrust to shorten the long transits that define Raja Ampat logistics, particularly the two-hour-plus run from Sorong's Waisai jetty to Piaynemo or the longer push to Wayag. Speedboats in this region earn their value in time saved; every hour trimmed off a transit is an hour added to snorkelling, photography, or a beach stop. The cabin carries air conditioning, which matters because Raja Ampat's equatorial sun turns a roofed-but-unconditioned cabin into a hot box by mid-morning. The toilet facility onboard is standard marine spec, functional rather than luxurious, and appreciated by anyone who has done a six-hour day boat without one. Capacity sits at 15-20 guests, which comfortably fits a family group of a corporate retreat of twelve to sixteen without feeling packed.

What Berdikari 1 Is Built For

Berdikari 1 suits day trips and short multi-day loops in Raja Ampat where guests prefer to sleep on land, in resorts like Koprak Resort, D Coral Paradise Resort, or Meridian, and use the boat as a fast shuttle to dive sites, island viewpoints, and sandbars. It is not a liveaboard; there are no cabins. The speedboat format fits groups of 15-20 better than the phinisi alternative if your itinerary runs Piaynemo-Sauwandarek-Harfat in a single day, because the cruising speed compresses the geography. Dive charters can use Berdikari 1 for day diving with external gear, though the boat carries no compressor or dedicated dive deck. For shorter Triton Bay or Misool routes, there are better-matched vessels; Berdikari 1 is optimised for the central Raja Ampat cluster around Waisai.

Pricing and What's Included

The daily charter rate starts at IDR 4,075,000, subject to annual adjustments and occasional surcharges tied to fuel prices, added routes, or government regulations. Within the standard package, the charter covers the speedboat according to guest preference, airport or hotel shuttle to the port and back, meals and drinks during the trip, a tour guide, documentation, entrance fees for tourist destinations, and snorkelling equipment. Lodging accommodation is included except on one-day trips. Excluded items are crew tips, flight tickets, and the Raja Ampat PIN entrance tax, which is IDR 500,000 for Indonesian citizens and IDR 1,000,000 for foreign guests. Fuel surcharge adjustments can apply to longer routes. Booking requires a 50% deposit, with the balance due 14 days before the trip; charters booked inside that window need full payment at confirmation.

Getting to Sorong and Where to Stay

All Raja Ampat trips leave from Sorong (SOQ), which has direct flights from Bali (DPS), Jakarta (CGK), Surabaya (SUB), and Makassar (UPG). Garuda Indonesia, Pelita Air, Sriwijaya Air, Lion Air, Batik Air, and Citilink all fly the route with varying frequency and pricing. Most guests arrive a day before the first trip day to account for flight delays and the jetty transfer. For 9D8N through 12D11N packages, guests can depart on the last trip day with flights timed to the schedule; on the 8D7N package, plan to stay one extra night and fly out the day after the trip ends. Recommended hotels near the port include Koprak Resort, D Coral Paradise Resort, and Meridian, all within reasonable driving distance of the Sorong speedboat terminal.
