Mermaid I Liveaboard for Raja Ampat Diving
Mermaid I is a 28-metre twin-engine steel motor yacht configured for serious Raja Ampat diving liveaboards. Classed as VIP, she accommodates 15 guests across 8 cabins and has built her reputation on professional crew, reliable dive operations, and consistent delivery across years of liveaboard work. Operated by Boat Komodo Trip from Sorong, Mermaid I is the kind of boat divers choose when Nitrox on every cruise, a purpose-built dive deck, and camera handling matter more than a full water-toy stack. The current 10D9N charter rate starts from USD 75,400.
Steel Hull Built for Diver Comfort
Mermaid I's 28-metre steel hull and twin-engine layout were designed around diver needs rather than general leisure charter. The boat has years of continuous operation in Indonesian waters and has earned its reputation as one of the top liveaboard boats by focusing on what divers actually notice: crew competence, dry camera handling, predictable meal timing, and a well-laid-out dive deck. She runs regular Raja Ampat itineraries and also crosses to other premier Indonesian dive destinations, which is the pattern you expect from a boat built around a professional dive programme rather than a single-park rotation.
Cabins, Guest Capacity, and Onboard Comfort
The interior hosts 15 guests across 8 cabins. The layout includes a Master State Room, a Single Cabin, Deluxe Cabins, and Lower Deck Cabins, all fitted with ensuite bathrooms, air conditioning, iPads, and premium amenities. The public spaces are set up for dive-day pacing: a shaded lounge deck for briefings and downtime, a cushioned sundeck for surface intervals, and the Sawasdee Restaurant where meals move through Asian and Western plates across the day. A marine-life library sits onboard for guests who want to identify what they saw between dives.
Dive Deck and Diving Programme
The dive deck is the operational heart of the boat. It features a wide platform for fin-up and fin-down, freshwater showers for post-dive rinse, and 6 dedicated camera rinse tanks, which is how you know a boat is serious about underwater photographers. Nitrox is available on every cruise, so divers on multi-day trips can extend bottom times and shorten surface intervals within training limits. The crew includes experienced Divemasters and Instructors, and the onboard logistics are designed so guests step from cabin to dive deck to tender with minimum friction between dives.
