Marvelous Phinisi: Small-Group Komodo Sailing

Marvelous Phinisi is a 23-metre Indonesian sailing boat launched in 2019, built to the traditional Phinisi specification with modern fit-out conveniences. Four cabins accommodate up to 12 guests, which is a mid-size configuration that splits well between family charters and friend groups. The boat spends most of her year sailing Komodo and the surrounding islands, where the crew is known for a fresh-seafood-heavy menu and a tender that actually holds up to shore landings during the dry-season wind.

About Marvelous

Marvelous was launched in 2019 in the tradition of Indonesian Phinisi shipbuilding, with a hull shaped to reduce roll at anchor and an interior finished to modern charter standards. The 23-metre length is a comfortable in-between for Komodo: long enough to handle passages between Rinca, Komodo and the outer islands, short enough to anchor close in bays where larger boats have to sit further offshore. The interior emphasises wood and natural materials rather than glossy hotel-style surfaces, which suits the mood of a trip spent mostly outdoors.

Cabins and Onboard Experience

Four cabins are organised as a Master Cabin, Private Cabin 1, Private Cabin 2 and a Family Cabin. The Master sits in the best spot for views at anchor, the two Private cabins work well for couples or friends travelling as pairs, and the Family Cabin configures for parents with children. On deck, Marvelous offers karaoke, Bluetooth speakers for guest playlists, and a dining area where the crew showcases fresh seafood from the local markets. A tender boat handles shore landings at Padar, Pink Beach and the smaller islands.

Safety and Equipment

Marvelous carries modern navigation and safety equipment appropriate for multi-day Komodo itineraries. Life vests, snorkeling gear, and standard onboard safety kit are provided for the full 12-guest manifest. The tender is the meaningful equipment detail for guests, because it determines how dry you stay getting to shore on Padar or Pink Beach when there is a mid-afternoon chop. Marvelous's tender is sized correctly for her guest count, which keeps shuttle runs short and frequent rather than long and crowded.
